Problem:
In my previous org, we have been running thousands of VM’s on VMware and the time came-up to centralize the Datacenters to optimize the cost on lease of hardware & datacenter hosting, electricity, resources and etc.,
As I have been Architect in the cloud space for long, I would like to solve this multi million dollar problem with Cloud mindset. This means Zero downtime and no involvement of customer like any other public cloud. I did a lot of research on the market and came up with a solution that gives cloud capability on Datacenters.
Application Migration and Mobility Platform VMware HCX
VMware HCX streamlines application migration, workload rebalancing and business continuity across data centers and clouds.
We were able to migrate 250 TB size of the datacenter with above solution in first phase, aiming to move the whole Petabyte in 3 phases.

With the support on VMware on Azure, VMware on AWS and VMware on Google cloud. Now any VMware shop can migrate to cloud with Zero downtime and you can get back when it is time to get back on Datacenter if required.
